Mount Meru Trek
Challenge yourself to summit Mount Meru at 4,565m in three demanding days.
3 Days to Socialist Peak
Mount Meru is Tanzania's second-highest mountain, rising to 4,565 metres (14,977 ft) inside Arusha National Park. The 3-day Momella Route is a shorter and more demanding version of the standard Mount Meru climb. The trek passes through montane forest, sub-afroalpine heath and the upper Afroalpine environment before reaching Socialist Peak at 4,565 metres. The itinerary includes overnight stays at Miriakamba Hut and Saddle Hut, followed by a midnight summit attempt on the final day. After reaching Socialist Peak, trekkers descend all the way to Momella Gate on the same day. Mount Meru offers dramatic volcanic scenery, the Meru Crater, Ash Cone, diverse vegetation and opportunities to see wildlife and birdlife within Arusha National Park. On clear days, Mount Kilimanjaro can also be seen from the mountain.

Important Route Information
The 3-day Mount Meru itinerary follows the Momella Route and is designed for physically prepared trekkers with previous trekking or high-altitude experience.
The shorter itinerary requires the summit attempt and descent to Momella Gate to be completed on the same day. This makes Day 3 particularly long and demanding.
An optional acclimatization hike to Little Meru at approximately 3,800 metres can be undertaken from Saddle Hut on Day 2 when time, weather and group conditions allow.
Weather, trail conditions and group pace may affect the exact itinerary and summit timing.
